Welcome to the Berkeley Alliance

2020 Vision for Berkeley's Children and Youth
2020 Visión para los niños y jovenes de Berkeley
2020 Vision draft recommendations

Berkeley Alliance is proud to be the convening agency for the 2020 Vision for Berkeley's Youth and Children initiative. 2020 Vision is a citywide movement to ensure academic success and well-being for all children and youth growing up in Berkeley, by closing the achievement and health gaps in Berkeley's public schools by the year 2020. A collaboration of grassroots community groups, the City of Berkeley, the School District, University of California-Berkeley, Berkeley City College, faith-based groups, many community agencies and interested residents have worked diligently over many months on this initiative toward improving the lives of ALL of Berkeley's children and youth.

On Tuesday, November 3, 2009, the 2020 Vision's Planning Team made a presentation to a landmark joint work session of the Berkeley City Council and School Board of the first round of recommendations resulting from this collaborative work. Bill Huyett, Berkeley Unified School District Superintendent; Lisa Caronna, Deputy City Manager for the City of Berkeley; Cathy Campbell, President of the Berkeley Federation of Teachers; Pastor Michael McBride, Executive Director of Berkeley Organizing Congregations for Action (BOCA); and Nicole Sanchez, Executive Director of Berkeley Alliance, gave the presentation to the elected officials in front of an audience of more than 200 people who gathered from all corners of the community.
